The Church at Catoosa started as a prayer group of ten people meeting in a small farm house on Three Notch Road in early 2000. In the fall of 2000, the small prayer group called Thad Smith to be the first pastor of the new church and it began meeting at Applebrook Dayschool. The new church quickly outgrew Applebrook and moved to Catoosa County's Civic Center, The Colonnade, in July of 2001. At the Colonnade, the church has expanded from just using the banquet hall, to using the theater, to using the entire building throughout the day every Sunday.

In 2005, through the support of TCC's first building campaign titled "All Things Possible", the church exercised the option to purchase 18 acres of property on Pine Grove Road, just off of Battlefield Parkway. This property is the future home of the Church at Catoosa's Worship Center and currently hosts a variety of church activities that center around the barn that currently sits on the property |
Throughout the church's history, it has been blessed to have several different properties made available to it to use for offices. While the Colonnade provides excellent facilities for the church on Sundays, it is not available to house day-to-day operations for the church throughout the week. From 2000 until the purchase of the property in 2005, church offices were based in that original farmhouse on Three Notch Road. In January of 2006, the church offices moved to a renovated trailer owned by the original owner of the property the church had just purchased and sitting right next to that property. The renovation of the trailer was by all accounts "massive" and accomplished by members of the church. Then, in 2008, the church membership took on another massive renovation when a new office space was offered to the church by the family of a former missionary to Benin, West Africa, Mr. Williams. The church members went to work and in the spring of 2008 the church offices moved to the new space on Old Mill Road. This property has been key to supporting church activities throughout the week from hosting staff offices to hosting volunteer team meetings and Praise Team rehearsals. These offices are also just across Battlefield Parkway from The Colonnade and just down the road from the church's property on Pine Grove Road, putting them in a perfect location to support church activities on those properties. The donation of the use of this property by the Williams' Family is a much appreciated blessing to the church.
In February of 2008, Thad Smith answered God's call to Morningside Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia. The process of forming a Pastor Search Committee took a couple of months as nominations from the congregation were obtained and prayed over by the Elders. After a series of interviews with prospective committee members and much more prayer by all involved, the Elders formed a team of seven church members and charged them with finding the person that God had selected to be the new Senior Pastor of the Church at Catoosa.

While the Pastor Search Committee was conducting a nation-wide search for the person God had selected, God led them just a few miles up the road to a man who was serving as a youth pastor. God led this youth pastor, the TCC Pastor Search Committee and the TCC Elders all to the same conclusion, that this man had already been selected as the new Senior Pastor of the Church at Catoosa. In October of 2008, this former youth pastor, Casey Hughes, became the Senior Pastor of the Church at Catoosa.

The Church at Catoosa is led, through God's direction, by a board of elders which includes the Senior Pastor. Each of these elders has responsibility for specific ministries of the church which are directed through the deacons, full-time, part-time and volunteer staff members. Within each ministry, a team of church-member volunteers works to fulfill the mission of that ministry. The church is currently actively involved in raising funds to construct a worship center on the church's property just off Battlefield Parkway and Pine Grove Road.
